If you drive a company vehicle for a living and the fleet manager has told you before not to take the keys home with you...

DON’T TAKE THE FUCKING KEYS HOME WITH YOU.

AMX for your time.

The best part is that it’s a rental. Now we get to pay for an extra day because jackass.

I once had a coworker turn around to bring the keys back. He had already made it all the way home, too. That sounds a bit harsh, couldn’t it have waited til morning? Not in this case; and besides, he was what we call a repeat offender.

This guy also decided to not answer his phone, so I’m going to have to smack him down.

Pisses me off. I took today off and I get woken up at 4 in the morning because he can’t follow the rules.

My next job will be awful(whenever that time comes), strictly because my employer is super lax. As long as we can ask, we can take a truck home. As long as we don’t steal shit and actually show up to work on time-ish, we are good.

Luckily at my work we have spare keys for all the cars handy. I’ve only seen someone take a key home once, but still, unless someone takes home both we can’t have issues

In the US, you can’t. The paycheck is a legal contract between employer and employee. If they docked his pay, he could take them to court and win. They’d have to take the employee to court to pay restitution for the extra day of vehicle rental.
